I would think that uncertainty of HPI creates a double blow for places that are expensive to maintain in heating and gardening maintenance etc.

This

The way you could make money on a place like this is through HPI. When that isn't happening what is the point of a house at that price? Super wealthy don't want an industrial estate on thier front door. It is too expensive for the rest to purchase and it must be costing a fortune to run each year so rental yeilds must be pretty low. Really as an investment it must be pretty poor and I can't imagine there are many jobs in northampton that can support a mortgage that big.

It's much worse than that....it's just across from the Northampton Sewerage Works.

Or the poo factory as I call it

Someone with deep pockets and a strong constitution needed for that one.

Everything has it's price but £1m for a house smelling of s**te is insane.

Looks like it's next to a massive industrial estate...well worth a million notes.

Compared to the £1m flats I saw in battersea today, that house is glorious. A classic design.

I was just about to say this. Sandwiched between an industrial estate and a water treatment plant. You've got a narrow window of wind direction there to have an enjoyable day in the garden. Lovely property though
