New Series: Climbing the Property Ladder

1/6 The stories of people hoping to make a profit by renovating houses and selling them on. The first episode follows a working mother hoping to retire early off the profits, and a woman rebuilding a rundown cottage.

And still they come, novices who think that property devleoping is the key to riches. Mary in West Yorkshire is sinking her redundancy money into doing up a two up/two down, and sales rep Rupa from Sutton Coldfield wants a pension. Both have their share of heartache. Mary sobs uncontrollably in her car after a falling out with her builder over an unwise group email, while Rupa loses much in translation as she tries to communicate with her Romanian builders. We follow Rupa as she grapples with measurements for tiles, and Mary looks on in horror as cement the consistency of double cream is delivered...

Jesus wept.

Was this filmed several years ago and only now being aired?

If not, would be great TV to follow up on these canny entrepreneurs in a few years time...

It's back to 2007 madness.  You cant loose.  Prices only go up.  How to make a million from property in 12 months ( yes, that really was a show ).

This isnt a sign that there's a boom, this is a sign that the collapse is here.

I genuinly thoughr the synopsis in italic was the OP making it up. But no clicking on the link actually has that synopsis.

By the way its written up, it could be more about not doing it and look at the fools, than this is how you become a property millionaire.

Perhaps this is the script for the next mission impossible film. Anyway should be fun to watch.

I came here to say just he same!

At least as far as the Radio Times hack is concerned, this is shaping up to be tragic farce. What else could "And still they come" imply, other than "lambs to the slaughter"?

They're still showing repeats of 2006 Homes under the Whammer

Ditto...pure 'TV Go Home' :D

Used to love charlie brokers parody TVGH. Recently watched his "black mirror" series which was daaark and fascinating. If this series can drop the sscales from the eyes of the flipperati with a taste of reality on risk, then I'm for it.

Absolutely

"Asset prices around the world are collapsing as the global economy slows and UK housing will not escape"

Surprisingly realistic article from the Telegraph

Does anyone else remember Sarah Beeny (probably at least 10 years ago now) telling someone who'd gone mad doing God knows what to her house,  that given the way prices were shooting up, she'd probably have made the same amount even if she'd done sod all - I.e. saying in not so many words that it wasn't all down to her own cleverness at all?

Whether C5 will actually include anyone who's made a loss in a very different market, may be worth betting a fiver on.
