Buy-to-let mortgage rates set to fall

Recommended Posts

The article doesn't seem to read very logically.

I think it's saying that if highly leveraged landlords become regulated out of the market then lenders will have to compete in order to keep their lending levels up, by lending to landlords with few properties.

The apparently unspeakable alternative view is that under tighter regulation, btl lenders will simply have to lend less and all that goes along with such a situation. For example a btl broker like Charcol might find itself in a spot of bother if that happened. Brokers and lenders may have to downsize, consolidate, or go bust. Redundancies made. Unspeakable.

IO loans will be moved to repayment loans or called in.

BTL loans will move to commcercial rates - think 8%.

The number of orgs offering BTL will continue to shrink as the increase in captial requied makes them less and less atractive.

IRs on BTL loons will rapidly.

Buy-to-let mortgage rates are expected to fall in 2017 for ordinary landlords with one or two properties, but get more expensive for professionals with larger portfolios, according to a leading mortgage broker.
