Homeless village to be built in Edinburgh  in 2017

Recommended Posts

Seems they really are skimping on the build quality, I guess if you are going to skimp then skimp big and regard them as temporary only.

Could always get this guy on the job to build a Utopian dream for a bit more. Can't beat a bit of celebrity brand  input, quality is guaranteed.

Scotland's first village for homeless people is to be built in Edinburgh next year.

Social Bite said 10 homes would be built in Granton to provide a low cost, safe environment for up to 20 people.

The social enterprise said it wanted to create a model to end the "vicious cycle" of homelessness.

185,000 a year affected, say Crisis and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, because of benefits cuts and a shortage of housing

That's dated 2013.

185,000 - so way to go.  Basically just tinkering with the overall problem - as usual.  Better than nothing I suppose.  In the meantime there are about 600,000 new arrivals each year from overseas that have to be housed immediately and they will want to live in areas that aren't necessarily the same as those leaving the country.

Even if they're really referring to those sleeping rough apparently there's getting towards 4000 of them according to the official numbers  - so still way to go.
