Also, what is her muscle tone like? Is she very slim, almost skinny? Does she eat a lot but does not appear to put muscle mass on? I ask as in the past week I have been reading some of the latest thoughts about theraputic doses of various vitamins, mainly D3 and the MK-4 & MK-7 forms of K2 (both are not really vitamins as they are fat soluble.), in regard to autism and dyslexia. Also, one last question - does she eat much animal fat in her diet? I am thinking her of grass fed butter, full fat milk, animal fats from meats, etc? What about Mr. & Mrs. Choochoo? Born in November, she is slim despite eating alot. She has milk, butter etc, I would day a normal amount for a kid. Me and the Mrs are average weight ? I asked as people who are deficient in D3 / K2 often unknowingly have trouble developing muscle mass. I was like this as a kid and it has taken me a few decades to work out why. Today there are lots of studies which suggest that this is a sign of the deficiency. RichB
My Mrs is a specialist in dyslexia and related fields. If you want I can ask if she's happy to pm you some advice. There's all sorts of stuff the schools are o the hook for, but knowing how to get it is important. With the right assistance it should be the big deal it would have been for many of the HPC crop who went through it in the previous century or 2. That's right, corrected by a dyslexic

Got a meeting with the school on Tuesday morning so having a prior understanding of what they should be providing would be a big help.

I'd take any psychobabble with a pinch of salt though.. especially if they start talking about different coloured paper and fish oils and that kind of *stuff*. The mind boggles at how many dodgy research papers have been thrown together in this area to justify somebody getting a PhD (perhaps I'm a cynic). Extra help with English and reading (especially one on one) will be really useful. Anything else probably not so much. IMHO of course.

CunningPlan
My son came home from school yesterday with something a lot like this - http://www.bonanzamarket.co.uk/listings/WizCom-ReadingPen-TS-Reading-Assistive-Scanning-Pen/238003623?goog_pla=1&gpid=76983190261&keyword=&goog_pla=1&pos=1o6&ad_type=pla&gclid=CMSTjIfl7tECFee97Qodk-YNow It's a reading pen but the accuracy of the thing is amazing - just run it over the text and it reads it out in a proper voice. May take us a while to work out the best way to use it as an aid in his case though. It is an amazing tool for those that have serious trouble reading. My wife also immediately nicked it to read the 5 point text on a medical leaflet. Worked perfectly. A must have gift for short sighted grannies! I understand his also translates from other languages - no more guesswork on ordering meals in Italy from now on!
