Why is Carney always doing things with his hands?

Recommended Posts

Got to admit I've never noticed what he's doing with his hands... whenever I see/hear him I'm too busy fuming at his louche, arrogant, superior, smug. condescending and patronising tone to pay attention to anything else.

He's doing something like this practically every picture I see of him. It's starting to freak me out. Is that the idea?

it's banking secret language.

bookies have a version of it called tic-tac(see john McCririck's racing commentary)

It's what liars do to distract you from thinking about what they are actually saying.

Standard media training.  They all do it.

eds - I've had some exposure to 'media training'.  Lesson 2 was what to do with your hands.  Seriously.

Is Carney a puppet?

Maybe he has strings tied to his wrists and someone above is pulling the strings. quite apt really!

At last.  Having been absent from the forum for several days, I just logged back in and was very surprised to find no thread on this particular public hoo-ha.

In tonight's Any Questions, the moderator asked the audience how many would like to see it banned and estimated a quarter to a third of them would.  That strikes me as remarkably high - is that really proportional to how the country thinks, or is it another example of the Beeb's typical QT-like metro bias in audience selection?
