Pay to see nativity

Recommended Posts

My kids school has always charged for the xmas plays. Oldest £1.50 per ticket (key stage 2), and youngest £1.00 per ticket (key stage 1).

I swear there is something every week I have to take money in for.

.. especially help those who don't have English as your first language.

Interesting to note that there isn't a single reference in that story about it being for children who have English as a second language. Go to the Telegraph and you get

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/11/28/school-charges-parents-1-watch-nativity-play-fund-books-teach/

"The school, which caters for 318 pupils aged between 4-11, has 43.5 per cent who speak English as a second language (EAL). The children whose second language is English are Polish, Malayalam, Greek, German, Spanish, Slovak, Portuguese, Punjabi, Lithuanian, Hungarian, Tagalog, Filipino, Bengali and Slovenian. "

And people wonder why there's a shortage of school places!!

All the foreign language speaking kids and their families should be deported back to whichever hole in the road country they came from.

They have no business being in the country whatsoever. I guarantee that pretty much all of them are a drain/negative in terms of costs.

If they don't benefit the country and the indigenous population why are they here? Kick them out.

'Christmas spirit' has nothing to do with.

We should be doing what is good for our country only. Charity begins at home - particularly when there are plenty of needy old/homeless etc etc to deal with.

My kids school is up to about 20% non UK nationals.

Which might sound low compare to that schools ~45% non nationals. But its not in a rural area.

There's a real mix, none of which are academic.

If the head teacher wants to raise money to support teaching then she needs to start charging non-nationals the 6k/head thats spent on each school child.

Stop p1ssign around with £1.50; its roughly (150 x 6k) £1m.

You are so full of bile and hatred of anyone who is not like you , I doubt you know the meaning of the word 'charity'.

Depends on where Errol is from.

An odd foreign kid or two in a UK school would be classed as charitable.

Almost 50% and, at best, its very expensive failed social policy,. At worst, an invasion.

The Head in the article is asking for donations to buy resources for non English speaking families.

Imagine you are Mr JoeEscort. Your kids school is ~50% foreign, the local job market is  swamped <where-evers> looking for their 16h, all the public services are overloaded. Then the Head teacher asks for money to pay  for books for the foreign kids.

Doesn't matter whether English is your first language or not  - trying to disentangle what is actually going on from the Head's letter would stump anyone without a background in management-speak.

What does "these resources will help improve the home school learning for reading and therefore improve the reading progress and attainment of the children" actually mean? Are they going to buy some books?

Not sure, you'd probably have to ask some stakeholders.

If they are charging money for it then it is a commercial activity.

So if the kids are working for a commercial outfit in any capacity they should be getting paid at least minimum wage.

Where do we go to dob these people in?

At our school they always term it 'a donation' for tickets. Sly buggers.

I always wanted to be Jesus, but I usually ended up as a shepherd.
