When 23-year-old Brandon headed from Massachusetts to the Bay Area in mid-May to start work as a software engineer at Google, he opted out of settling into an overpriced San Francisco apartment. Instead, he moved into a 128-square-foot truck.

The idea started to formulate while Brandon — who asked to withhold his last name and photo to maintain his privacy on campus — was interning at Google last summer and living in the cheapest corporate housing offered: two bedrooms and four people for about $65 a night (roughly $2,000 a month), he told Business Insider.

Living the dream....

He probably has the shortest commute in the office!

He should take it a step further and setup a bed under his desk.. ;)

You might laugh, but I work in the games industry where this happens more often than you'd think.

I worked with someone who slept in the office, well downstairs in the back storage.

Smart guy. Worked in Bracknell; lived in Brighton - 'Im not rasing my kids here!' he said.

~Turned up Monday, worked til Weds or Thursday, worked from home for 1 or 2 days.

Campbed and telly. Free leccy + internet.

Shower, kitchen, supermarket nearby.

What a state of affairs that it has come to this.

A productive young person lives in a carpark because non-productive older people want to make money from non-productive assets.

Same in the UK, and the government worry about low productivity in the UK.

I was living in the Bay Area in the 90's and people were doing this then.

I paid around £300/month for a flat-share at the time which I didn't find too bad.
