Controversial architect rant

Recommended Posts

Well it cannot be efficient for London to have empty homes at the top and social housing stuffed full of economically inactive persons at the other.

But thats how it is currently you have to be rich or poor unless you own already.

"Patrik Schumacher... also praised London’s foreign second home owners “even if they’re here only for a few weeks”"

Pure hypocrisy then. He's not really interested in keeping central London for the workers. He just doesn't want poor people anywhere near him.

Surprising that the architect doesn't have a go at all the thousands and thousands of new homes bought by overseas people and then left empty - but then his profession might take umbrage at risking the fat commissions from helping to design all those left empty high rise apartment blocks.

In fact he appears to have complimented the overseas buyers - there seems to be nothing so vested interest an as architect looking to his future commissions.

I dare say plenty of his general staff would be saying to themselves that if he thinks it's such an issue he should pay his staff more so that they could compete against overseas buyers rather than pick on the poorer people.

Instead he seems to be paying his professional staff so little that they can't even compete with council house tenants in affording accommodation.  More fee profit of course with the builders and property speculators grateful to him for keeping the commission down to increase their own profits.

The blokes a tunc.

But .... I think there should be a nationwide HB cap at 500/month. No London weighting. And No benefits to non UK nationals.
