What type of Van is this?

I'm guessing it's VOSA checking cars for road tax.

Hmm if correct it's an unmarked vehicle, clever.

Cameras look too dipped to be reading numberplates in traffic.

Maybe road condition monitoring, identifying potholes / markings etc and geolocating them.

They do monitor parked traffic, we woke up one morning and about 7 cars on the street were wheel clamped overnight.

I wonder if they can scan the number plate if you park bumper to bumper?

We got loads in Swansea. They can identify cars whether they are driving or when they park up. We also have a van that drives along and records cars parked in bus stops. Plus the speed camera vans. I hardly drive my car anywhere these days.

Don't worry, their days are numbered. When driverless cars come in you won't be able to go anywhere without agreement.

Fortunately driverless cars are nowhere near as close to deployment in the wild as the MSM want us to believe.

It will still be at least another 20-30 years (probably more) before driverless cars will be capable of driving autonomously  in every circumstance.

I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who doesn't want bloody driverless cars.

None of these problems with dvla spy vans in the countryside. Sorry if I'm sounding like a stuck record....

"Want to report an untaxed vehicle?"

Actually, no.

Here's a thought. Live your life and spend a little less time worrying about other people and what they're doing. Or not doing.

These things are awesome. They can detect TVs, iPlayers, racists, UKIPpers, and free thinkers, and destroy them with an electron beam.pict0023.jpg

It isn't switched on to dodgy expenses claims in Parliament though - or dodgy lending by bankers.

It wouldn't spot a dodgy brown envelope if it was staring it in the face.

Wandering round checking tax discs used to be a surprisingly popular hobby. I think some bloke, who lived near my parents, used to report so many the DVLA started to suggest he might like to consider other activities to fill his time.

Untaxed vehicles don't stand out like they used to, since there is no tax disc.

Can that Commer van burn books, like in Fahrenheit 451?:o IT does look very scientific.

Nah, having failed to recognise an NPR van I am pretty sure that Commer belonged to a keen surfer with a very large board, so keen in fact they had modded to roof to make space for the sails and mast.

I did want one until it became clear that they had to have sensors to ensure that you were in the driving seat and awake in order to take control if there's a problem.

As soon as I realised that I couldn't just have a kip during my commute it all seemed a bit pointless; if I've got to be awake, alert, and in the driving seat then I may as well just drive to stop me getting bored.
