canbuywontbuy
Online - there's just too many opinions, news (fake or real), things to worry about (gold price, £ value, stocks, etc). I'm not even on Facebook, and I feel this way. Offline has become my new sanctuary - peaceful and slow-paced.
200p
I use the internet to gauge opinion and sentiment on house prices, and to help to look at stocks, commodities, bonds etc.. to be able to manage position. And maybe sometimes for entertainment. --- The internet should be used as a tool, not as a life
Frank Hovis
The internet, including YouTube and 4OD and similar, has replaced TV for me and is a lot less passive.

Not sure about peaceful as I have a feeling my fellow passengers look as though they are about to riot.
ChewingGrass
Work and weather permitting I try to be offline as much as possible, easy in the summer, hard in the winter. The house is too noisy for reading and the only TV I watch is the odd few documentary series I keep tabs on Discovery Channel as I think I'm a closet miner as its ancestorally in my blood. Thinking time is done off line on one of my bikes as far aay from the other mongs as is reasonable within time constraints. Winter potentially leads to internet entrapment, so I am very careful. Going to put the slow cooker on and head off out shortly even thought the roads are wet.

Same for me. I like to be on my bike and having a think, or lately, just going to bed early and doing.....nothing. I'm actually trying to cultivate boredom in my life. I think boredom can be a wonderful thing - so many good ideas and inspiration can come from being bored.

You're deprived of being online and have to talk to people during all the waiting about.

There are easy steps to have the main benefits of the internet but without all the extraneous social media and news. 1. Get some cats - don't try and get them for free from a cat rescue centre the crazy cat women volunteers will screen you more rigorously than some Ukippers trying to adopt an actual child. 2. Teach the cats to do some funny stuff 3. Get some porn mags - again they are no longer so readily discarded in ditches and hedgerows by sexually frustrated male motorists, prior to returning to the marital home, so, like with the cats, you will probably have to actually buy them. 4. Change your name, by deed poll, to Tim Berners-Lee and award yourself a knighthood because you've just created your own Internetz.

man o' the year
My family and I were together this weekend for the first time in many months. We did a little family tree stuff visiting a church where my kids 6 x great grandparents were married, then went up nearby Crich stand. We then walked in Dove Dale before coming back to catch the last of Chesterfield's excellent market and the Christmas Tree Festival in the crooked spire church. A great day with loads of fresh air and no electronics.
