I can see that for sheep you would just turn up on the moors, far from watching eyes and load then into a lorry. But fish?

Just sweep them out with a big net and take them away in a tank. As specialised as bees but in a wetter way.

The Masked Tulip
11 minutes ago, SarahBell said: But you have to farm the fish to stop the fisheries.. There is serious money to be made in smuggling carp from France to the UK because people in the UK pay so much to fish on private lakes and rivers. If you do a google you can read stories of, allegedly, some of these fishing venues paying 20K, 50K for a stock of fish because they can charge anglers 1K or more to fish at their venues. There is serious money in this. So, imagine that you are running a fish farm here in the UK with 10K worth of fish in stock. Your organised crime lot are going to see it as less risky and less cost robbing your farm than going all the way to France to do it. Plus, French fish have a parasite that we do not have in the UK so the law can check angling venues to find out where the fish have come from. Anglers generally do not care where the fish has come from - they just want to catch fish. I have heard stories of fishing farms that have had most of their stock nicked in a single night and it has wiped them out financially.

I imagine the only thing that masks the landfilly taste is the overtones of petrol and diesel fumes. Quite surprised you're even allowed to farm fish there to be honest. The second one is a sly bit of property development. They got planning permission for the house through an Agricultural Occupation Condition (AOC). This is basically a loophole where millionaire benefits scroungers* can circumvent the planning laws. By law the house can only be lived in by someone earning their living in agriculture, but no one checks and after a decade or so you can apply to have the AOC restriction rescinded. *farmers/landowners

Back when I was a kid in the 1970s one of the jelly firms - think it was Rowntrees - had a promotion where if you collected X tokens you were sent, wait for this, gold fish. So I collected a bunch of tokens, sent off for my gold fish and a few weeks later, from Japan, I got sent about half a dozen gold fish in the post. They were each in individual plastic bags tied at the top with half water and half air. Poor b*ggers. IIRC some of them lived for many years in the fish tank - again, poor b*ggers, as I did not understand how cruel it is to keep fish in small tanks back then. None of us did really. So how do they smuggle fish today - in plastic bags.
