rantnrave
Any link to the full report? IIRC this index isn't seasonally adjusted and this is one of the months a year when it typically falls.
crashmonitor
Indeed rightmove got quite excited about -1.3% last November, the lowest November adjustment since 2011 reckoning it was indicative of a strong market. So -1.1% looks pretty strong for a month when prices always fall of a cliff. No Sun, No Supermoon. No flowers, no noon. And definitely no house price rises. November last year...... http://plc.rightmove.co.uk/~/media/Files/R/Rightmove/house-price-index/november-2015.pdf Edited November 14, 2016 by crashmonitor

Brexit and now Trump with some quite worrying European right wing movements gaining more power next year. The people are starting to revolt in a scorched earth type of way, our particular bugbear is unaffordable housing that is ignored yearly, but recently I have been presented with some horrible examples of how so many people are suffering in the UK in other ways. I knew things were bad, but a few visits to Nottingham and a few Fen towns has showed me the real UK for so many people. How on earth can you have a country where you need to take on a mortgage on an ex crack den that could feed and home a third world town for a year, this will end soon. On the theme of feeding a third world town. You could equally argue that the cost of freeing up one of these houses plus benefits for a migrant that has made it across Europe could feed the town from whence he has come too. But I guess the SJW code states that the needs of the guy that is good at jumping lorries are more vital than the town he left behind. Trade unions at one time made huge sacrifices and stood up to cruel greedy factory owners. Now we have welfare handed out as a lifestyle choice to people who think we must pay for their breeding, trade unions of the 1970's that had to be brought down a peg or two, tough or right wing politics are needed as a type of tough love so the UK does not implode. Agree 100%......we're well overdue for a correction

lostinessex
Wow, loving those last few paragraphs of the home.co.uk report... Quote Due to sterling weakness we can already expect a large wave of inflation to hit soon; indeed, it’s already on the rise. Should inflation increase much beyond 2% then expect mortgage rates to rise to well above that figure. More expensive borrowing will create a major headwind for the UK property market. In fact, interest rates are already predicted to quadruple over the next 5-10 years, according to the yield curves produced by the Bank of England (but they may well rise even further than forecast). Of course, all this should come as no surprise. ZIRP policies cannot last forever; they are meant to be a temporary fix while the ‘real economy’ takes off again. Unfortunately, there is little evidence of that and instead we have the headache of both widening fiscal and trade deficits. Like a Greek tragedy, the UK’s national obsession with owning property may well be its undoing.
TheCountOfNowhere
"interest rates are already predicted to quadruple " 1 f**king % If that causes someone a problem over a 10 year period then I'll be surprised.
crashmonitor
1 hour ago, lostinessex said: Wow, loving those last few paragraphs of the home.co.uk report... Agree, God knows how the economy is supposed to take off again, the excessive debt burden looks set for our lifetimes at least, and private sector debt is the least of our worries. We still need to borrow about 100 billion every year to support the benefits system, most especially for the retired. Borrowing is no longer about National survival in wartime but propping up impossible welfare promises we have made to ourselves, absolutely crazy and f%%king selfish regarding future generations. The debt might be a greater drag on inflation going forward than we might think since growth will be kept permanently in check. The hyper-inflationists have clearly lost a lot of credibility over the last decade. Over a decade ago they argued that true inflation was running at 10%...in that case looking back to 2002 goods should have quadrupled; clearly with food, motoring and manufactured goods now being the cheapest in the history of mankind in relation to earnings that clearly hasn't been the case. Being so wrong on that has rather spolit there main argument over unpayable debt (which I 100% agree with). I guess when the state health and pensions Ponzis do eventually collapse we will have to inflate the debts away. I suspect a lot of can kicking before we give up the ghost and hyper-inflate.
