Ash4781
I've got some top hung windows that are draughty in the middle of the rubber gasket. I've adjusted the bottom bolts using an allen key so there is no play in the sash at both the bottom corners. For the one downstairs the pointy bit at the top where the hinge locates at the top I had to bang the corner from outside to get it to locate in its keep on both sides. Suspect the hinges. Fine. Unfortunately the ones upstairs are doing it but can't get out there to hit the top of the windows to get them to locate. Also the frame might be bowed or slightly twisted. Any tips? The previous owner put sellotape down the sides on the window lol!
ChewingGrass
How wide are the offending window openers? I suspect that the frames are budget ones i.e. they are not steel reinforced, if the fixed horizontal section/member under the window is not straight then the window will probably not seal. The house over the road from me has two 4' wide openers at the top of a 8' wide window and you can visibly see the bow in it.
Ash4781
pretty large I think 1200mm high by 700mm wide. I might have a look to see if I have a straight edge - timber or a larger spirit level.
whitevanman
Use a glass sucker to pull the window into its locating pins as you close it.
