I presume this was reported as being a bad thing. Tenants thrown out onto the street, nowhere for people to live...... etc, etc, etc.

I bet.  :D

Nope, waiting for the Autumn statement.

I'm hoping for something good. Maybe a land value tax or a Vancouver style tax on property purchases by foreigners.

I cannot imagine a conservative government introducing a land tax this millennium ... but a tax on foreign ownership doesn't sound completely impossible to me. I know I may sound naive, but does anyone know if May has any “big picture” political ideals? She is the daughter of a vicar, and it's difficult to imagine that she's been in politics since '97 without letting on about her ideology, but I'm totally ignorant about anything she might have said in that line. Anyone here have any insights?

Yup they think they are providing a service, someone will occupy the building one way or another.

July 2015:

HPCers: "You ought to sell now, whilst prices have some momentum"

BTL tw@ts: "You know nothing. No landlord is going to sell. We're all 2% LTV and can jack the rent up 20% per annum if we need to."

October 2016:

BTL tw@ts: "The government better back off with their plan to make us sell, or we're going to sell. How about that for fighting talk!"

HPCers: "You lot are proper tw@ts."
