The people most likely to have aids/HIV are men who have sex with men, injecting drug abusers and blacks.

Can you imagine the howling from the guardianistas if they prioritized those groups for testing.

Quieter to test everybody even if the overall infection rate in the population is 0.28%

  • 6,151 new HIV diagnoses
  • The two groups most affected remain gay and bisexual men and black African heterosexuals – over 70% of people diagnosed with HIV in 2014 were among these two groups
  • 3,360 new HIV diagnoses among men who have sex with men — the highest number ever recorded in a year
  • 2,490 new HIV diagnoses were acquired heterosexually and over half of them probably acquired their infection in the UK
  • 2 in 5 adults newly diagnosed with HIV in 2014 were diagnosed late (after the point at which treatment should have begun)

So the heterosexual figures maybe had 'half' acquired in the UK. Nice to see we invite people to live in this country with zero testing requirements for things like this. Its nuts.

The other 30% would be injecting drug users or those in relationships with high risk partners. The stat they never publicise is number of infections amongst heterosexuals not associated with any of the risk groups ... because it will be close to zero.

The reason this is an issue is that people who are on treatment for HIV are very unlikely to transmit the virus.  The NHS would save an enormous amount of money and the HIV infection rate would be vastly reduced if they had targeted testing and got people onto medications early.  New York has 1/4 of the new rate of HIV infections compared to London.  That is a complete scandal.  Yet the British go on and on about how wonderful the NHS is.

They test all pregnant women now.

They can deliver a baby via a special C-section that keeps the amniotic sac intact in order to prevent transmission of HIV from the mother to the child.

I'm pretty sure they fire it full of those anti retro viral drugs as well ?

Think I read the risk if that's done is very low like <5%

Finger in the air - bloke goes out in the uk for one night stand - odds of girl having HIV something like 2000-1

Even if unfortunate enough to pick that one - you would generally need to have sex with them tens if not hundreds of times to contract it.

The overall risk to a straight bloke on a one night stand must be 20,000-1 or similar.

HIV testing mandated when applying for a work permit in liberal Canada (when coming from certain hued countries)!

Not just Africa. I had to have an AIDS test to emigrate here. And TB, and a bunch of other stuff.
