Accelerated Construction - govt money for what?

Recommended Posts

The government will borrow £2bn to support the "Accelerated Construction" scheme, which aims to get houses built on publicly-owned "brownfield" land available for swift development. Mr Hammond and Mr Javid say the cash will encourage new developers to build up to 15,000 homes in this Parliament.

There will also be a £3bn Home Building Fund to provide loans to stimulate projects, which the government said would build more than 25,000 homes by 2020, with a long-term goal to build more than 200,000.

Are they building houses or bribing house builders to build houses?

Chancellor is peaking shortly maybe get some more details.

To me its coming across that they're giving smaller builders more money to bid up land prices.

He mentioned Corbyns magic money tree. Wonder if it produces as much as his printing press.

What a ***** he's pretending to chip away at the edges with his crappy fund to allow the elite to sell public land to his mates at knock down prices with taxpayers money.

I'll be doing my bit to keep productivity down which he seems to be so bothered about.

Said Javid - 'We've made great progress fixing the broken housing market we inherited from Labour, but now is the time to go further.

VMR - perhaps the Capital is draining resources? Usual story of a possible major project delay in the City.

The unions are high profile on these jobs, demanding £1500/ week + for their members. But where are they on the sites out in the provinces which aren't financed by public money and there in comparison there isn't even a bog to pee in ?

I've seen the unions in action on a large construction site in the Shetland. What complete an utter bellends they truly are. These union agitators will be mouthy Scousers, irritating Jocks or thick Geordies. British unions are the most  incompetent thick fckers you would ever have the displeasure of meeting.

Now i'd love all sparks to be in 75K a year, but quite clearly such pay for onshore work in a safe environment is unsustainable, especially when there is cheap EE labour on offer.

And why would you want these clowns in the provinces making sure sparks get £75K a year, do you want them to lose work as folk won't be able to afford to hire them?

Your average Sparkies get in at 9 leaves by 3 and gets paid for £150 a day or a little more, they're most certainly not underpaid.

If these mouthy scousers, thick Geordies or irritating Jocks want to do something useful, they should be kicking off that most contractors on site now have to go through agencies due to changes in employment laws, thus parasitic agents are now taking a huge cut of contractors wages just for passing on a CV.
