blobloblob
For no reason at all this evening, I suddenly started wondering what the original cast members of Grange Hill must look like these days. Quite by coincidence I visited the Sun's website, something I rarely or never do, and whose face should appear but Susan Tully. Apparently she's been successfully directing for several years. She doesn't look truly awful by the way but nevertheless, this thread is dedicated to once-famous folk who have long since slipped into obscurity but, when they resurface, look like a right sack of old potatoes. Frank Hovis
Seeing that Dr Robert clip (and yes crikey but he still has a decent Barnet) reminded me of something I keep noticing: how many really good singers can't say their "r" s. It's disproportionate, I know very few people in RL like that but listen to the radio and they're all over it. I wondered if it was the speech centre being able to focus upon consonants or vowels; with focussing upon vowels making for a better singer. No idea really but I keep hearing it. James Nesbitt looks really old, trying to be younger and obviously dyed hair and rug. He actually had 2 hair transplants a few years back, which were quite successful. So I think what you're seeing there is a hair transplant rather than a rug. Though I've not seen the new series so I can't say it's definitely not a rug! The Masked Tulip
Sally Field - is she still Sally Anne Field - was gorgeous. Is gorgeous. She was in a film - The Way West - with Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum and Richard Widmark but they covered her up in a dirty old rag of a dress, dyed her hair a reddish brown and hid her beauty for some reason. Perhaps they did not want her out-shining the female leads?
crashmonitor
A lot of actresses seem to defy ageing, Joanna Lumley is doing ok, Jan Francis even better. In the case of Caroline Blakiston, she was quite hot as the seductive governess in the Mallen streak (1980) and as Mon Mothma in Star wars (1983) has definitely gone from summer to winter......... Edit. fair enough , she is 83 I guess she looked good back in the eighties for her age when she was obviously going through an Indian suumer. The XYY Man
Former "Just Good Friends" actors Paul Nicholas and Jan Francis appear to have aged at completely different rates. Nicholas - complete with dodgy wig - looked like death warmed-up during his recent appearances in "Eastenders". Ms Francis on the other hand - as crashy alludes to in his post above - is still well worth one... As they were... XYY

The dodgy rug doesn't help, but on the other hand he's not the sort of guy who'd suit being bald.

crashmonitor
1916 was a good year to be born if you were a Hollywood super star Olivia De Havilland had already made the 100 earlier this year. But when they pass on there is a bit of a gap age wise for oldest surviving legend. Well Zsa Zsa Gabor at 100 in February but hardly in the same league.
