Just Getting Over Food Poisoning. Gut Restoration.

If you really want to increase the good bacteria in your stomach it is best to buy a proper probiotic with billions of the 'bugs' in there as opposed to the probiotic drinks.

If you want something to soothe your insides then I recommend aloe vera juice - small amounts does remarkably well in helping soothe any internal inflammation. I find the Aloe Pura range to be good. One capful in the morning first thing and one last thing at night.

Your time to recover would be vastly lengthened if you didn't have your appendix; the previously "useless" appendix has now been found to serve as a reservoir for gut bacteria from which it is rapidly repopulated.

Forget expensive yakult, instead start making your own kefir - more info on the fermented foods thread. It's the most potent probiotic known with over 50 strings of bacteria, and completely free (besides the cost of the milk) after you acquire your starting culture (grains).

Just had a week of trots, cramps, aches, and shakes.

Its been hellish.

Things are settling down.

What does the hive recommend for my poor innards?

Buy Yakult innit?

You have my sympathies, I had the exactly same thing last week with a feverishness and feeling cold thrown in to boot.

Two Mondays ago I stupidly used out of date chicken to make a curry. Paid for it right up to last weekend.

Food poising doesnot destroy your gut flora.

Antibiotics do.

Youll just have a knacked gut. Just liquids and soft, non spicy food will sort.

Not keen on dairy. Its not great for adults guts.

You might find this helpful.....I can eat almost anything, hardly ever sick rarely get stomach ache, others eat the same as me and they suffer, get the runs......sensitive stomachs.....could have something to do with the immune system and/or lifestyle.

I could quite easily do both and have absolutely no aftereffects....I know at least one person where a skinful of ale is a No No and a chicken naga would have them rushing to the loo......there are alternatives. ;)

Appendix intacticus.

Had ABs all my life, though allergic to Penicillin.

Been off the dairy apart from one cuppa in the morning.

Bought some Yakult and some Aloe Vera.

Cheers for input. Thought i had Norovirus but its lasted too long, and i didn't yack up at all.

Think i got it whilst making a chicken chorizo casserole.

I deskinned the chicken, then used the board to chop some chorizo.

But didn't use all the sausage. This got rolled about on the chicken fat and and skin remnants, then the remainder of said sausage got put back in the fridge for about 5 days.

Had a bit of remainder late Monday night, been on throne ever since.

Fridge has been bleached clean.

Im normally on that sort of stuff, think my laziness cost me this time.

Sure it was food poisoning, sounds more like a virus. Food poisoniing is usually quick and severe, not at all protracted.

Eat food

After 4 hours still feel strangely full

After 6 hours realise that it must be food poisoning and await your fate.

After 8 hours start to throw up at one hour intervals

After 12 hours the final gut wrenching emptying of the stomach.

After 24 hours ready to eat

brother eats shit. Hes down eith it 2 3 times a year.
