Festival Of Thrift

Recommended Posts

Mate of mine's wife is quite big in this. It's one of those things that started off great but is now just completely commercialised, hence the festival moving from its usual home in a row over money.

Oh aye.

It's really just a load of overpriced craft type stuff. Said mate's son makes about £1000 over the weekend selling stuff he's made out of Lego.

You get a discount for being an HPC member, or turning up with a Toc H lamp.

We show you how to live on £25k a year free money from the government because they didnt want to give £3k per person free money to keep the steel works open.

Consultants from the government department that wouldnt pay £1 million a year to keep Easington Pit open, but now pay £19 million in benefits to the local community will be giving a talk.

The people living frugal cant attend as they are at work in warehouses and call centres on crap wages to pay the tax for the tax credits of the lady showing how to heat your home from HMRC tax credit claim packs.

I don't think under EU rules the gov't was allowed to subsidise the pit. Even if it did make overall financial sense.

That's true. Those same rules meant that they weren't allowed to bail out the banks. But they actually wanted to bail out the banks, so it happened anyway.Hey ho. :)

Other than child tax credits, how could anyone make that much on tax credits?

Work 16h. Claim full tax credits.

Work another 30h cash in hand.
