The Sun Calls For Mass Housebuilding

Recommended Posts

Maybe. But given we need 50000 homes every year just to house the new EU migrants arriving annually at present maybe we would need to build so many in future. Anyway in a post Brexit world we can have a points system where those with trades we need can come whereas the unskilled won't have an automatic right.

Are we Building homes for those here or those yet to arrive?

Dunno. We need homes for the ones building homes though.

Crazy that trades seem to have fallen out of fashion - always needed, cheaper to import (steal from other countries), than invest in our own people.

Vicious circle - house prices - cost of living - expensive to employ indigenous people - cheaper to import / let them share rent.

Fundamental issue is cost of housing far too high. It is wrecking everything.

I used to work in the building game 16 years ago, money is the same now as it was then.

On my last job a Pole who was one of the batch to come over before accession, got an NI number through his ltd company which enabled him to get the visa, he brought over several illegal Poles who were subbying from him, and then thsee illegals brought in more illegals who were subbying from the first batch of illegals and getting paid an absolute pittance.

Still they're good for the economy, just not the economy of working class Brits who have been wiped out the building game. And middle class dogooders like "Knock Out Jonny" lap it up.

Blame the game not the player

I attempt to operate within the market presented to me - I do not set it

Ranting against it is the action of King Canute

I'm not middle-class, but perhaps this is a class issue for you. I'm sorry for you if it is.

Or maybe it's a foreigner issue for you.

I've won and lost. As I'm sure you have. At The moment I'm very exposed and don't know where things are going. If I'm anti Brexit it's because an uncertain market is only good for spivs and speculators and despite your disdain for me, I'm neither.

Thing is i've 100K to spend on a plot of land and have no chance of finding such a plot, one rule for the little people as always.

You local Council should have a register of interested parties for plots of land that they should be releasing sometime to self-builders.

It's a scheme that was mooted some years ago but the Councils are apparently still waiting for proper 'guidance' from the Government. My local Council say they are expecting some progress with the scheme later on this year.

Might be worth you enquiring about it.

Bearing in mind, Chavezista's views on free speech (if you sign the wrong petition you can get blacklisted) - I would not believe things like that.

Cubides' trips to a dialysis center in Cucuta turned into multi-hour ordeals that left him too tired to eat dinner. He gave up his job as a city gardener. Then, one hot afternoon shortly after New Year's Day, he stumbled and fell on the bridge. He was dead by the time he arrived at a Cucuta hospital, his medical records and death certificate show.

I wonder if he was happy before he died.

If the EU lovers had cared about builders, priced out people etc they might have been able to find a solution to convince people to remain. Sadly the EU phile's response to any criticism for the last 25+ years has to insult people. As a result of this they have damaged so many lives.

What is the housing 'crisis' ?

Reading this thread it appears that either everyone earns twice as much as the official figures suggest or has a couple of hundred grand stashed in an offshore account.

There isn't a lack of supply in inner London's top districts, why haven't they been snapped up.

As eluded to elsewhere on this thread, we have a PRICE crisis.

Even if we completed a million homes tomorrow the crisis would still be here till people could truly afford them. Current new builds will not be a solution for at least ten or more years.
