Glad you mentioned Russia.

The centre for crony oligarchs. Oppressive of the population. Murders and false imprisoning of political opponents. Rampaging propaganda as a science. Abject poverty. Elections based on lies and coercion. One of the richest men on earth in charge. Domestic violence not punished. Gay bashing. State sponsored corporate raiding. Law and order breakdown.

We've got a lot to look forward to.

Yes that's what comes from having a vision and a plan; it needs autocracy to carry it out and this is the result, with the final insult being that it didn't work anyway.

That's a relief.

Sky News are running this as their "Top Story this evening".

https://news.sky.com/story/london-bridge-attack-victim-jack-merritts-father-accuses-boris-johnson-of-trying-to-score-election-points-11882986

Speaking from his home in Cambridge, Dave Merritt said: "What was required was just a dignified approach, whereby the politicians would express their regrets, express their condolences to the people affected and would then get on with campaigning in the election - it wasn't an election issue."

He added: "Instead of seeing a tragedy, Boris Johnson saw an opportunity, and he went on the offensive and started talking about extending the tariff for prisoners serving sentences with a maximum of 25 years."

This is a grieving father simply lashing out.

Boris is right. These feckers should rot in jail.

Breathtaking.

So the grieving father is "lashing out" ... but he chooses, instead of the ideology or person responsible for the death of his son, to "lash out" at a politician who happens to be making political capital. Yeah...

I'm just continuously astounded by the levels of stupidity and self delusion required to maintain your faith in your chosen politicians.

What do they have to do for you to wake up to the ugly truth?

It’s the brutal truth of it.

Just being honest.

Lashing out suggests unthinking vitriol. Instead Dave Merritts father has shown extraordinary dignity and thoughtfulness following a terrible tragedy. He is also absolutely correct. No laws can be changed until after the election, so rhetoric from a politician only serves the purpose of exploiting an atrocity for political purposes.

Like using the image of a little boy lying on a hospital floor?

I agree Dave Merritt has shown tremendous dignity; but he is, in his grief, finding a target to latch onto.

One EU country voting to leave something couldn’t force another EU county to leave. Why should one UK country force another UK country into something?

It really all depends on what the legal set up is. In the case of the UK, yes it can happen and has indeed happened.

For the EU, they will add our biological and technological distinctiveness to their own. Our culture will adapt to service them.

The father was being honest. Also, thoughtful and perceptive.

You on the other hand have a BJ avatar.

You may not like the message - but I’m being perfectly honest about how I see it.

I tell you what - I will change the avatar on Friday.

Well by all means give yourself a round of applause for being 'honest' but that doesn't remedy your lashing out ******.

A grieving father who has had his son knifed to death days ago in theory shouldn't be being more level-headed than a poster who has lost his marbles to a political cause but, well,  there you go.

edit: Actually - that maybe that isn't true. May be its actually no surprise.

A grieving father was standing for the same beliefs that his son did, that it is possible that some offenders can be rehabilitated and their lives turned around if the correct work and actions are taken during a prison sentence and afterwards.... investment/improvement of the probation service.?

In other words - political ideology at profound odds with the prime minister.

He lashed out. Understandably.

But Boris is right; you have to lock these extremists up. For a very long time.

Boris and any other politician have an absolute right to comment on and consider the implications of yet another terrorist attack with fatalities and injuries at the heart of London. Normal grieving parents would withdraw into themselves and family and remember the good times rather than a life thrown away. Yet in this case, it's as though the 'grief-stricken' family members cannot wait to take up the virtue signalling baton.

As I understand it, the father feels strongly that his murdered son would not have been happy with his death being used to further the political advantage of BJ,

Listen to the interview, he makes his point clearly and succinctly.
