Now a British software company has taken that theory to new painful extremes by creating a way for people to link their bank accounts with a wristband that claims to shock the wearer out of bad habits - like spending too much.

The Pavlok wristband, which was successfully crowdfunded in 2014, can be set to monitor a user's habits and send electric shocks through the wrist when the user breaks their own rules.

Is the shock fatal if you buy a house?

This is absurd. More likely it'll give you an electric shock every time you turn down a bank loan or pay off more than the minimum credit card each month.

these have been around for a while I think.

they were supposed to be a pilot programme on some airlines, just in case passengers got a bit pissed and rowdy.

now,you get a cattle prod up your @rse if you speak against the wholesome benevolent establishment who are re-creating society for everybody's good, you ignorant, unwashed peasants just don't see it yet.

north korea is beginning to look quite tame by comaprison.

(wasn't it C.S lewis that had a bit of a rant about moral busibodies and the reign of oppression they would create?...f***in prophetic)

It just confirms the disappearance of people's grey matter - it started soon after the belated 1975 Common Market/EEC referendum. Regaining grey matter is one of the positives of Bexit but don't expect Cameron and Osborne to admit that.

No, that requires the explosive collar version, only available to premium buyers.
