BBC just mentioning it in passing. You would think one of the biggest football stadiums in the country, belonging to one of the biggest football clubs in the world, would merit a bit more news coverage.

BBC News just did a report on the latest remiership scores but, yes, even found it within themselves not to make any mention of the ongoing situation in Manchester.

You have to wonder if there is a bunch of BBC types on their knees now somewhere praying "Please let it be the IRA, please let it be the IRA!"?

I'd have thought Man Utd had decent security in place so if a bomb / pretend bomb can be placed there then searches are going to be ramped up at all grounds next season.

I heard the timer was set to go of some time next August

To be fair this isn't really the style of the islamics. It's interesting how they are ramping the NI situation now, just in time for the Brexit vote.

I don't really buy the IRA angle, aren't many Republicans for example Martin McGuiness Man United fans?

Broadcasters hate anything important happening on Sunday. Their 'top' journos are all in their country homes / farms and it is hard to find an 'expert' to commentate on what is happening.

Speaking as a NewUtd 'fan' all I can say - Lucky bastards, having something other than the team that sabotages the game.

It is off script in so far as BBC standard news fare goes these days so they would have to be real journalists to know how to respond and as we know they don't exist at the BBC anymore

You know, it was over an hour before the BBC News channel began to report the story as a major story - that is shocking. Truly shocking. But what you just wrote most likely has hit the nail on the head in that, during that hour, there must have been all sorts of discussions and phone calls behind the scenes as to how to cover it and what level of coverage to give it.

In previous times it would have been reported as the major news story it is within moments of the BBC News department hearing about it. Shocking, on so many levels, that it took them so long.

They are just puppets, brain dead idiots that just read what is put in front of them. I recon they could read out their own resignation letter on the national news and not even realise it.
