Recommended Posts

The UK's economy is the property market and all mortgage payments go to London

Don't worry the Northern sh7thouse will be along soon to fix that, Gidiot said so!

This is partly a statistical artifact, the UK asked for inner London to be made a separate region for EU stats purposes. Most countries have the capital city included in a larger surrounding region which brings down the average.

You can see the effect on this map, compare London to Paris or Madrid:

How much of London? That graph would be pretty astonishing if it extended beyond, say, Zone 1.

From the eurostat map the UK is going to have to go some to meet the pre-election promise of soon becoming the richest country in europe (never mind the world).

Take Germany for an example, their wealth is more evenly distributed about the country as a whole....better and more evenly distributed opportunities for all people living there....we seem to be a more unbalanced society when it comes to wealth and prosperity, top or bottom heavy.....just saying. ;)

May be geographical.

They're almost surrounded by other nations.

Our gateway to Europe, Africa, the middle East and far East is in the south.
