Ricky Gervais has dropped the asking price for his Hampstead home by £700,000 - but has already moved into a £10.5 million mansion nearby.

Ricky Gervais has reduced the asking price for his home in Hampstead.

The four-bedroom Victorian detached house was originally listed for sale at £7.7 million last September. However, it is now on Goldschmidt and Howland’s books for £6,999,000.

With a generous 5,263sq ft, there’s plenty of party space and an outdoor terrace.

British comedy actor, director, and writer Gervais, who has hosted America’s Golden Globe Awards four times, turned the lower level of the house into a spa area with an ozone swimming pool, gym and a golf drive. But after living there for nearly 10 years and completing renovations, the Extras star decided to start a new chapter.

He recently moved into a £10.5 million mansion nearby with his long-time partner, the best-selling author Jane Fallon.

Was he ever funny though? I loved the Office, one of the all time greats, but the only time since that he's actually been funny is when he's reading other people's jokes presenting award ceremonies. Quite how he's amassed a fortune to be able to plonk down £10m in cash, I'm not really sure.

Most prominent and visible comedians turn into the wrong side of rich these days. Go mainstream, lose their edge.

To be fair, he was hardly Jerry Sadowitz to start with...

The Office was enough to make him rich.

....richness does not necessarily mean happiness.....there again, some people are happy spending many hours in the office. ;)

He probably made most of his money from royalties on the American Office. That ran for 8 seasons. His film career's dried up and his telly work has gone to the dogs (Derek?), but the cash just keeps a-coming. Lucky man.

He should have bought in Bromley or Croydon. Would suit his character. Does he actually "own" it or does a bank?
