You Can Now Rent The Flat From Spaced For 500% More Than Tim And Daisy Paid

Recommended Posts

too orangey for crows...

The Tufnell Park property used for Channel 4’s cult comedy series is available to rent on Zoopla though the price is not for the faint-hearted.
Thanks to its pop culture affiliation the apartment located on Carleton Road, in a Grade II listed period building, costs £460 per week compared to the £90 Tim and Daisy paid when the series first aired in 1999.

There is no chance that flat would have gone for £90 a week in 1999. It was probably £90 per room. But even £180 p/w would have been on the low side.

What's "spaced"? Some telly programme?

£90/week for a London flat would seem more likely in about 1979 than 1999.

You're in for a treat! Check it out one of the finest British comedies ever in my humblest

Presumably the £90 a week rent is a reference in an episode of Spaced. Even so, way off the mark. I rented a 1 bed flat in Hackney just off the Murder Mile in 1999 and that cost £105 rising to £135 at the time. I say the Spaced flat would have been £150 to £180 a week easily.

Unless they were renting from the council.......

yes £90 per week for the whole flat in 99 seems well cheap. Had a friend who moved into roughly that area in 97 (to be fair Primrose Hill, which is obviously more desirable), and they were paying £95 per week for a room, which we all thought was totally insane!! Edited by reddog
