MARTINX9
Why exactly do the Mail need to mention the value of the couples home in the headline. A bit tasteless! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3445501/Banker-husband-teacher-Caroline-Andrews-dead-500-000-Kent-home-charged-murder.html If you read the story it seems like they were renting the property? interestrateripoff
Clearly not a good banker only a half million pound house.

XswampyX
Clearly not a good banker only a half million pound house. Their previous house was worth £700,000 That's in the 'article' as well!
sPinwheel
They mention the high price to emphasise that even the rich can suffer.
wonderpup
The implicit suggestion seems to be that the murder of someone living in an expensive house is somehow more tragic- if the story was about a killing in a council house would the value of the house be mentioned? I suspect not.

“Nasty Piece of work”
It is the Mail - did not waste my time by 'reading' it.
ChewingGrass
It's an American thing where your percieved status is related to the size of your mortgage (value of house) and what you drive (rent). Hence mahoooosive mortgage and a rented mercedes and you are stylishly living the dream for everyone else to admire.
NaturalBornPessimist
Have to laugh at the disdain for The Mail. It has one of the most successful and widely read websites in the world because people love it. They love hearing about house prices and celebrities. The mail is nothing but a mirror held up to the plebs.
reddog
Not sure we are getting all the details with this story. Don't want to make excuses for the bloke, but I work with a few British blokes who commute every week to work in Switzerland doing jobs they hate, so their family back home can have a "life style". Can't help felling if this guy was under a bit less pressure, things would be different.
reddog
Just to add, I am not ruling out the possibility he could be a total duche who for example killed his wife, when she found out he was having an affair!!
anonguest
It certainly is a ridiculous 'hallmark' of that paper isn't it?! They simply cannot report on anything without mentioning what the house prices are! A random look at the first article in the News section, about cold weather on it's way......... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3445398/Arctic-blast-hit-Britain-TONIGHT-six-inches-snow-temperatures-4C-predicted-bring-misery-roads.html and what do we see? "...The latter burst its banks yesterday, flooding parts of upmarket London including Charing Cross where the average property costs £4.7million, Kew where homes cost about £1m, in Putney where the average home is worth £693,000 and in Greenwich where the average three bedroom house costs around £1.6m." What are we supposed to infer or take away from this useless bit of information? That somehow the misery caused by the flooding will be less for those whose houses are only(!) worth £693,000 than for those that are worth £4.7 million???!!! Pathetic.
