The Co-Operative Group Tales Of Malpractice

Recommended Posts

Interesting story this one! Kath Harmeston was formerly Group Procurement, Finance Systems & Transformation Director at the Co-operative Group, She alleges that senior members of staff turned against her after she blew the whistle on procurement malpractice. Subsequently she was dismissed unfairly, she claims. She wants £5 million by way of damages.

Balanced perspective on the story here http://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/news/14189571.Executive_claims_she_was_sacked_by_Co_op_after_blowing_whistle_on_malpractice/

A bit more back ground here http://www.cips.org/en/supply-management/search/?q=Harmeston

The main argument against Co-op is malpractice and corruption

The argument against Harmeston is she hired a consultancy firm without authority, it is alleged that she had previously used them at previous employer Royal Mail, in fact they claim themselves to have saved "their client" £15 million! They were removed from that contract after Harmeston had gone to Co-op with rumours that they had been fleecing Royal mail

So all in all a bit of a can of worms

Nearly forgot you can find another perspective here http://www.hrgrapevine.com/markets/hr/article/2016-01-21-the-co-operative-groups-chief-hr-officer-i-have-never-seen-so-many-issues-with-a-new-recruit
