Indeed. I notice that their motto is "NO expensive brands. Just food honestly priced". The obvious thing to write is "Just good food honestly priced". They must have had a discussion and consciously decided that they can't put the word "good" in there.

They must have had an equally tortuous discussion about the word "food" too.

Just think - in 5 years' time, shopping at Poundland will be the equivilant of shopping at Waitrose, and Waitrose will be members only.

Waitrose is already full of members

All items 25p.... in February.

Indeed ... loss making for one month, in other words a great form of advertising! Maybe Japan will open a -5p shop (or the yen equivalent!) ... take food and get paid for it!

I found myself parsing it as 'Just food' as in we 'just' managed to squeeze through the food safety regulations - an extra 1% or some chemical ingredient or other and we would have had to market it as Cement mix or garden fertiliser or something instead.

Also the food is 25p, but they probably charge 3.99 to hire a shopping trolley, 8.99 for parking and 12.99 surcharge for ringing items through the till.

You can get 1 carrot for 6p

4 fo 24p i'd rather chop & roast them than a 25p pot noodle.

Exactly.

If you're skint, buy a load of root vegetables en mass and a pot to boil 'em in. You'll be able to afford to eat, and you'll be eating healthier than most rich people do.

Is it the inverse of airline ticket dynamic pricing?

The food starts out horrendously expensive and as you get closer to the expiry date it drops in price? I can see crashmonitor and durhamborn fighting it out in a Dutch auction.
