Brantano Shoes Gone Pop

Recommended Posts

As per title, the sh1tstorm is gaining momentum I'd say.

That wasn't your venture was it?

Tony Barrell, the lead administrator, said: "The continuing challenging conditions for ‘bricks and mortar’ retail stores are well documented.

"Like many others, Brantano has been hit hard by the change in consumers’ shopping habits and the evolution of the UK retail environment.

I find it hard to believe that people have stopped buying shoes.

According to the sky news article, hit by a weather double whammy:

"A wet December hit visits to high streets and warmer-than-average temperatures damaged demand for winter fashions, "

Is there no weather that is good for business??!!

I do know someone in shoe retail. The theory goes people (presumably mainly of the feminine persuasion) stockpiled so many shoes, bought on credit and store cards, during the boom years that they've been working through them in leaner times.

I can say I have just bought a load of stock from a largish northern based chain that needed cash so things aren't pretty.

I've also got another good tale about the distressed nature of government finances that I also can't share, time will tell but, this could be the big one this time I'm starting to suspect.

Surprised Brantano existed at all. Large selection of out-of-date and yet over-priced designs. This just shows healthy markets at work: they are gone because they were noncompetitive.

Deichmann seems to have vanished too; essentially indistinguishable from Brantano, at least to me anyway.

MI5 still not paid you for those duffel bags?

That's the last of the bad puns.

Bite yer tongue, I'm sure there will be another along soon!

Did anyone buy shoes from Brantano at full price? I made a habit of waiting until they had a 50% sale on, usually 4-5 times a year, and snap up several pairs of Hush Puppies or Clarks. I didn't give a fling fig if they were "out-of-date"!

Dont't copy the URL from the browser header. Left click the video on YooToob, select "get video URL", copy and paste the address into the comment box.

It should look something like "youtu.be" rather than "youtube" when you paste it in.

job done!

Admittedly I rarely buy shoes, but I did like them and their supermarket approach to buying shoes. Go there find the shoes you want and buy them, no being pestered by a sales assistant when you are just looking and then not being able to find anyone when you need to buy.
