Ban Cash Says Ed Conway

Recommended Posts

He seemed such a clever sensible chap. Now at Sky he's been got at and become a rentier shill. Such a shame. I'm sure he'll be well rewarded

If you've nothing to hide........

Well that is the problem usually.

Those with most to hide are the idiots wanting to bring this kind of stuff in, and they usually end up coming unstuck!

The black economy would just move to a barter system. Packs of fag's, bottles of vodka or whatever.

If they can't make shit like this work in a prison then you're never going to make it work in wider society.

Ed Conway, Sky's economics editor, said today on Sky News that cash should be outlawed as it is the only thing that is preventing negative interest rates and is mostly used by criminals.

I guess that makes the 5th of the population without a bank account criminals.

Also why is creating negative interest rates not itself criminal act? I thought stealing people's money was supposed to be a crime?

Outlaw cash so that the criminals can rob and thieve from people some more using negative interest rates.

Or bitcoin?

Possibly, but it doesn't matter what it is. Outlaw cash and something will emerge to replace it. People don't want every aspect of their spending to be available for inspection, even if what they're doing isn't actually illegal.

Physical cash makes up only a low percentage of the entire money supply. The big money is held by the big people, and it is already hidden in offshore tax havens. In fact, the poorest would be hurt, and the big people still need them to each give a £1 a day to them to continue to be in business. Banning cash would be the biggest mistake they could make.

If cash was banned, would people really think house prices would double overnight, and people would start buying stuff? NO!
