The musician Guru Josh, who had his biggest hit with Infinity in 1990 as rave culture swept Britain, has died aged 51.

His agent, Sharron Elkabas, confirmed to the Guardian that Guru Josh, whose real name was Paul Walden, had died in Ibiza on Monday. The cause of death is unclear.

Born in Jersey, Walden studied dentistry, then had a spell in the US before moving to London in the late 1980s, where he worked as a booking agent and played pub gigs with his band, Joshua Cries Wolf.

Since his 89/90 "fame" he only had 3 releases:

Eternity (with Igor Blaska) 2009

Frozen Teardrops (ft Lauren Rose) 2010

Love of Life 2011

(not including the numerous re-releases of Infinity)

Caught a program on him in the last year or so - was living on his own in funky caravan in Ibiza doing this and that. The age, timing and circumstances (christmas on your own in Ibiza - sounds lonely) could mean depression/suicide etc. Or could just be heart attack or similar.

Or maybe popped 14 E's and went out on a high chewing his own ears off ?

If so respect - dying doing something you love - everyone's dream.

Ibiza and Xmas sounds a lot less depressing than Carlisle, York, Hebden etc.

When you have popped a pill - the likes of Stockton may as well be a roof top late bar in Manhattan.

Not that I would know. .....

sorry, but this wasn't exactly a "rave heaven" anthem.

to most hardcore ravers this was horribly commercial, something of use for the ignorant masses in the local ritzy's rather than a tent full of 25 000 pill-poppers and a 100kw sound system.

you know the score........

rozalla..everybody's freeeeeee..to feel good

SL2 on a ragga tip

a trip to trumpton etc etc.....

if you're really really lucky, the DJ might play "the bouncer"......not tonight, you're not on the list.

the only one I used to sort of like on the commercial scene wich could cross over well was bizarre inc.

Speaking from experience .... I've popped many a pill in and around Stockton and the greater 'boro area.

Its still a sh1thole - just a bit more technicolour and wobblier around the edges.

What a choon! Was a bit to young at the time but got wasted in the mid-late 90s and strutted to this funky stuff when the dj played it (& Bizarre Inc too).
