I wonder if the government would be so kind as to send me this confidential information as well, however that won't happen as my family unfortunately has no title and is the wrong birthline, and of course they want to stop me from knowing anything by altering the FOI Act. Just as, IMPO, our leaders need some kind of prviate - and secure - jets to fly the world in. Perhaps filled with high class escorts and glass tables for entertaining foreign dignitaries. From the Independent article about this: The revelation follows the release in May, following another FoI battle, of the so-called “black spider memos” sent by the Prince to ministers over several years. Twenty-seven letters – 10 from Charles to ministers, 14 by ministers and three letters between private secretaries – written between September 2004 and March 2005 were published. In its letter last night to Mr Cameron, Republic said: “The fact that… Charles has privileged access to Cabinet papers is a further cause for concern as it means he is able to lobby ministers in secret at every stage of policy development process. “It is plainly wrong Charles can lobby on new policy proposals even before the public are aware of the existence of such proposals. You know the bit about the 'right to be consulted, the right to advise and the right to warn'. Rightly or wrongly the whole point of the monarch is to act as a 'lobby' in the British government system. StainlessSteelCat Posted December 16, 2015 Share Posted December 16, 2015 I don't know why anyone should be surprised at this. The Queen is the head of state, and Charles is effectively her deputy. The monarchy here have been clever enough to give the impression they effectively rubber stamp stuff already decided - so hardly surprising that they have a decent say over what's put in front of them to rubber stamp. billybong Posted December 16, 2015 Share Posted December 16, 2015 The PM has a meeting with her every week to discuss "matters of state" so it's along the same lines - confidential meetings wherever she is based.
