Time For A Christmas Carol

Recommended Posts

What a link to the past.

On the ghosts of Christmas past, my parents had this on vinyl, Christmas songs and Carols for Little Children (1968). it was a best seller and it was played to death every Christmas.

Very quiet but a beautiful piece of music.

Lovely. This was my father's favourite and when I took up the piano again it was the first I tried from my Easy Carols book - simplified versions, and still not easy for me then. Must find a full version now.

I can never hear little kids singing Away In A Manger without getting weepy - tissues were an essential at school Nativity plays. Both our two played Mary at some point - elder was only 3 or 4 but younger was maybe 10 and at a Catholic school at the time. Our stock had never been very high with the head - an Irish nun - since we were neither Catholic nor loaded. But she did it so well that the old nun came up beaming afterwards, saying, 'You were a BEAUTIFUL Our Lady!' Her stock rose considerably after that. :-)
