Home Made Sweets

I've made some of these the other day. Shared this video with a friend and they made some and added ginger, cinnaman, pepper, cloves and chilli. Now they're winter warmers!

We used to make lovely sweets set out in the Kenya Settlers' cookery book. Nut brittle and chocolate fudge were particular favourites.

There was a great section at the end with some useful phrases in Swahili.

I love those sort of books, I'm always loooking for similar in second hand shops. Anything old on home brewing gets bought.

Don't know what they are called now but I seem to remember them being sold as 'Space Candy'. The stuff that fizzes when you eat it.

Very easy to make, equal parts of sugar, bicarbonate of soda and citric acid.
