winkie
Don't forget, thousands do not own a computer and many do not have a smart phone, why very many areas there is still no broadband connection and far many more areas no mobile phone connection..... Appart from getting satellite connection some people have to have a paper reminder to enable them to pay by cheque at the local post office. Those people probably have a calendar and mark birthdays etc on that. Technology makes us lazy and forgetful. DEATH
If they put it on the cost of petrol it would be cheaper for everyone. No extra collection mechanism needed, no police involvement, no court involvement, etc. PAYG tax...

londislagerhound
I have an Aygo, £20/year to tax and a Nissan Leaf, £0 tax. They Aygo returns 55mpg with ease, the Leaf costs about £3 to cover 100 miles at worst, zero when I charge at the motorway services.
