Estate Agent's Profit Warning - 'shares Tumble'

Recommended Posts

Apologies if already posted, but can't see it.

Large article saying that Countrywide, Britain's biggest, issued a profit warning yesterday, sending shares down and 'raising fears' that the housing market is heading for a serious downturn.

Expected bounce after general election has not happened for first time since 1983.

Lots more about lack of stock, etc. but as usual nothing about people not buying because of unaffordability.

Something about 'consumer confidence' declining, and turning into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The Telegraph:

"Meanwhile, housebuilders joined estate agents in negative territory, as a rating downgrade by Liberum continued to weigh on the construction sector. The broker lowered the ratings on Barratt Developments, Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey on Tuesday, amid concerns valuations are too optimistic."

What a shame.

Said no one ever.
