$90Tr Dollar Green Energy Push - Going For Green Growth?

Paris climate deal to ignite $90 trillion energy revolution

Ambrose Evans-Pritchard: The old fossil order is on borrowed time as China and even India join the drive

Is this the big gamble to get the global economy moving? This is the one area which could produce another bubble to allow the other bubbles to deflate. Can green energy drive the world economy?

A lot of the cost of Si Photovoltaic production is energy, refining silicon is an energy intensive process, cheap oil will mean cheap PV's. Moreover the cells themselves have been proved to last >50 years (the main failure is the cheap inverters and other electronics used on them, these could be replaced).

ironically, if the political will is there, the cheap oil could be an opportunity to reduce mankinds reliance on it. (Obviously it is not much use in northern europe)

Big push for carbon taxes whilst fossil fuel prices are low so they can be snuck in under the radar and it will be too late when prices rise.

Hidden behind all the green shit is another large tax that they want to foist on us.

Europe levied a large import tax on solar panels to prevent "dumping" this is when any native producers had already left, we'd been better off absorbing cheap panels produced by an oversupplied market, but nope that would not do! Europe also fought VAT reductions on solar panels, and other energy saving products.

It's that tax they want.

PVs are already cheap: their price crashed hugely around the end of last decade.

Great for microgeneration on rooftops. Of more uncertain value when taking land that could otherwise be green, though they can coexist with grass and sheep. Or even desert land, where large-scale alternative solar technologies are an option.

UK needs to bootstrap our own best source, which is tidal power. Invest now in pioneering projects!
