The Eagle
The UK Ministry of Defence admits that a submarine that damaged a British trawler in April this year was one of its own, not Russian. Earlier, Fleet Street was awash with speculation that a ‘hostile Russian sub’ had nearly destroyed the fishing vessel. “…the RN [the Royal Navy] has now confirmed that a UK submarine was, in fact, responsible for snagging the KAREN's [fishing vessel] nets,” Penny Mordaunt, minister of state for the Armed Forces, said in a statement. The fishing vessel KAREN sustained damage to its nets and deck equipment while in the Irish Sea after it was dragged violently by unidentified vessel. http://www.rt.com/uk/314709-british-sub-trawler-russian/ This shows again how full of false information the MSM are, here are headlines from the DM and the Mirror at the time:
Bossybabe
I'm sure I said at the time. It's a classic that happens fairly often in the Service. The knee-jerk from the MOD is always to blame the Russians. They can't allow anyone to know the positions of their subs until they're well away. Standard procedure. Errol
Classic procedure at the moment is just to quickly blame Russia/Putin/China etc for everything that happens. If it wasn't them you can make a small apology that nobody will notice 6 months later. The only thing that 90% of the thick population ever see is the first headline - 'Russia does this', or 'Putin does that'. They never bother to check months later to see if the facts were true. happy_renting
Submarines should be banned from using the sea, and instead use the airspace over southern England, where everyone will be able to see them coming.
