Makeover Shows May Lift Property Prices

LONDON (Reuters) - Britons' appetite for property makeover shows on television has triggered a home improvement boom that may have added billions of pounds to the value of the nation's homes, according to research on Thursday.

The only caution I would add to this "good news for property prices" news is that the recent trend demonstrates that this boom died sometime ago. B & Q, MFI, Magnet etc. have all been reporting dismal sales and these stores are where all that "boom" money has been spent. All that is left from the "boom" is the great debt hangoever and layoffs at DIY stores.
