Reform Judicial System

Recommended Posts

The court system stems from the time when kings (or judges) travelled the land hearing local squabbles and passing divine judgement as quickly as possible. (my history is a bit weak, but I think that's it).

It would make more sense in this age to have a system where the arguments of either side were reviewed in a more relaxed environment, using written submissions or video recordings of statements.

This could go through numerous iterations, both sides responding to the opponent's statements as necessary, with an investigating magistrate (or similar) overseeing the cases. When all the info was in, the cases could be presented to the jury. Defendents/witnesses would probably still appear, but in principal it would be difficult to contradict the accumulated statements already obtained by the court.
