Daily Mail Turns Rogue...

Recommended Posts

Then there's this on how will our (grand)children ever afford a home http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/mortgageshome/article-3185367/The-question-generation-children-grandchildren-afford-home.html

Tory party HQ must have been on the phone "stop this ramping of BTL/HPI we're trying have an engineered slow down"

Actually, they may be trying to engineer a crash. The margin calls will wring the BTLers out of the market. Once there are only a handful left, then the Bank of England implement Basel 3 and clear out the rest. The budget tax changes are an act of theatre. Nobody will be affected by them because nobody who would have been affected by them will be left at the table. They'll all have been blown up, one way or another.

Comments are a bit depressing under that article, loads of "young people don't know how to sacrifice nowadays, blah blah blah" type comments. I will not be sad when we've finished burying/incinerating that generation.

Sounds awful but...

I'm 65 this year.

I consider anyone over 75 another generation to me, and pretty much all of them are thick, selfish, borderline racists who think they're a lot smarter than they actually are.

I'm just thick and selfish btw. ;)

how will our children ever afford a home???

1)that is if you have any childern now, courtesy of couples having to work flat out to afford a garden shed, and not have enoug time for nookie

2)that is if you are lucky enough to have children, they don't feel totally screwed over and decide to put you on a "logan's run" style carousel to get rid of the useless eaters...which you will be in a few years.

face it guys, you broke the social contract, courtesy of being selfish, and goebbels-style media hype.

FAMILY COMES FIRST

THEN FRIENDS

THEN LOCAL COMMUNITY

THEN COUNTRY

THEN INTERNATIONAL CHARITY

TAHT'S THE HIERARCHY....

YOU F***ED UP!

now there is a price to pay.

The only thing that can save you now is introspection, repentance, and remedial action...which the politicians will not give you any help with

My grandparents were all born in the 1920s, I remember them being quite nice people who were concerned about the poor and wanted the next generation to be able to do more and have more than them etc.

Finding it hard to say something nice about the generation born in the 1930s-early 1940s. The good news is that entire age group is now in the pointy bit at the top of the population pyramid:

Spot-on.

The generation that fought in The War were the last great generation, my Father was born in 1912 and he and his friends were self-less lovely people. He said that Soviets infiltrated the UK while they were away fighting and warped the minds of those left behind. Mind you, a lot of the best of the country never came back alive did they?

Yeah, those 'Soviets' had such an easy time on the Eastern front that they had the time and manpower to do all that.

The soviets had time to infiltrate the entire UK and warp the minds of all those left behind?

My god, those Soviets must have been cunning and stunningly efficient.

I believe the Daily Mail has previous form for going rogue over the summer. Presumably the usual editorial staff are on hols, and the landless interns are left holding the fort.

Linky?

Still looking for the words "house price crash" and a Tory TSC member calling out the BTL sector.

Stories about prices being too high are two a penny - they are basically more of the don't miss the boat propaganda...

Must try harder, FT.

Sell now. Sell everything,

The Soviets might not have infiltrated but there was definitely a post-war experiment with Socialism in the UK that continued through the 50's, 60's and 70's... It's just a shame it managed to produce the most selfish, greedy, entitled, self-indulgent generation to have ever existed.

I don't know that I can be a**sed to find previous threads here about similarly incendiary/inspiring Mail articles that were printed during the summer silly season - but they are here somewhere.

All I can say is that summer appears to be the time that both Governments and the Mail feel they are able to talk about the unthinkable as no-one is reading and only the idiots/young are left holding the fort.

Summer is also the traditional time for a slow down/drop in house prices anyhow. I remember getting real hopeful in summer 2005 - until they cut the interest rates at the end of summer to keep the party going a little longer.

If the Mail is still posting the same into September and October then we have cause to be hopeful of a rout.
