Rogue Landlords Could Be Forced To Repay Housing Benefit

Recommended Posts

I never thought I would say this but ....

Vote Tory the party that just keeps on giving

LOL

The BTL LL is the fatted calf ready for sacrifice.

One can't help but wonder if this was the always the intention with BTL let the greedy get their snouts well and truly in the trough and then tax them to oblivion when public sentiment had turned against them. Who knows maybe that was crash Gordon's plan all along (we all know how he liked to do a tax raid) get house prices really high and then scapegoat and tax the BTL fatcats? No, to be honest I think I'm giving him far too much credit - I don't know if he ever got into BTL, Blair did and I'm sure Brown would have liked to have made him suffer.

Yess its what I have been saying for ages. I dont think there was a grand plan thats giving them way too much credit.

They are in a near bankrupt situation and running out of options so they will grab at anyhting they can to protect the state. Pensioners also are getting stung too with the announcement today .

The fatal error the BTL made though is when the state starts to fail it will grab anything and everything and you "asset" is fixed in the ground so your kind of stuffed. Its very much a ****** you pay us scenario. Unlike other forms of wealth where at a push you can put it in a bag and do a runner.

They will keep pushing till either collapse or the people revolt. The BTL brigade are going to get smashed to bits now and noone will care, like you say a large fat juicy immobile target.

Also on the most basic level in this situation there are two things they can do to improve the economy bring the cost of living down and legalise then tax drugs.

So the tories might end up the good time party at least for us who actually work and generate real wealth. Illw ai ton the drug announcement yet :)

I think the tories have always claimed to be the party for working people and BTL has previously suited their pitch.

But I think things have moved so quickly in the last couple of years since that BoE report declared no housing bubble that they have had to do something.

When people earning solid local wages can neither afford to buy or rent and you are in your second term with a very slim majority you can be sure there is going to be no one else to blame in 5 years time.
