Fergus Sings The Blues

Recommended Posts

Did anyone see Fergus on channel 4 news last night? He was on to comment on landlords being charged with a criminal offense if they let to failed asylum seekers.

He then went on a funny rant about how the country was sinking under immigration and how he was going to fix it by standing as a police commissioner. Dont think he understood what they did and believes it's some kind of supreme overlord / dictator.

Nice tweed though...

Lol!

Love the look of bafflement on his face when another interviewee has the temerity to disagree with him and put forward an alternative point of view. And when the questions get too tough, he just goes off on his own tangent.

C4 are doing themselves no favours interviewing this nutter..

Surely, he cannot run for police commissioner if he's a recently convicted criminal ?

Deluded ?

It's all rather ironic, considering Fergus stated he would target letting to East European Immigrants (legal resident presumably) rather than low income Uk born tenants.

Of course he won't get it, but let's not stop him trying, eh? Far too good a source of entertainment...

I think you misread my post, apologies if unclear, I said "Surely, he cannot run for police commissioner"

To rephrase, surely he cannot be allowed to run, as he has a criminal conviction?

No it was clear, I understood it. What I meant was I don't know if he will be allowed to run, but I wouldn't want anyone to stop him from trying, purely for the comedy value.

I see what you mean, but IMO, there are better comedians

It appears from a quick google he cannot run.

Perhaps C4 should have challenged him on that, for even more car crash tv comedy value, if they'd bothered to spend 2 mins on google

The Labour Party candidate due to stand in the Avon and Somerset police commissioner election has stepped down due to a previous criminal conviction. Bob Ashford, a former Frome councillor, said a crime he committed as a teenager bars him from standing for the post.

The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 disqualifies a person from standing for election for a police and crime commissioner (PCC) if they have at any time been convicted of an offence for which a person could be sent to prison; whether or not they themselves were sent to prison for that offence.

Perhaps this thread should be re-titled "Fergus sings the Boys in Blues"

:)

Edit: if anyone is unhappy about C4 not doing enough basic research re: what Fergus Wilson was going to talk about, and so allowing him to use C4 news as a platform to claim he can run for police commisioner, when it appears (above) that he is not allowed to, should complain to:

I saw it and thought it was comedy gold.

He just came across as a complete nutter standing there with his eyes closed ranting on about immigrants ?

This guy is a walking cliche. If I didn't know better I'd think he was some sort of spoof created by the people behind The League of Gentlemen.

I thought Fergus only let to immigrants because the English were lazy.

Does he have a Schrodinger cat for a pet?

I think by immigrants, he meant 'eastern europeans' specifically.

If we want to be contentious, the statistics ive seen suggest the kinds of immigrants coming illegally (sub saharan or else muslim) tend to fill the ranks of the unemployed or other benefit claimants (quite unlike the eastern europeans or asians of non-muslim background)
