Bossybabe
Must have been terrible, losing him so needlessly. Hopefully Schulz (he looks like Snoopy!) will see me through to 70, so likely he'll be our one and only dog. I'm considering a sidecar for the Blackbird, and kitting him out with a biggles hat and goggles... We're building a kennel and run for him, and the driveway is completely fenced off from the garden. We don't go abroad much now, so we're fairly experienced dog-sitters. He won't be short of company! See, kids stuff wot I like! I like his name - will you train him to sit on top of his kennel like Snoopy?I've been alone here since Sunday as my son took the other hound to work and isn't due back till tomorrow. Life's not worth living without a dog or two. I wonder if I could get Shadow to sit up behind me on my Virago...
ccc
Deadly 60 is an excellent TV programme - by the BBC of all people [Nature so they are pretty good as this to be fair]. Aimed at kids - but better than many 'adult' shows they do.
Mrs Bear
I'm happy for you. Beware. One of my dogs died last week because an idiot courier left the garden gate wide open. I'd specified delivery to neighbour if not in. He had a heart condition and wasn't allowed to run. Died of a heart attack. You fall in love with them, then they break your heart. We're getting another soon to keep our remaining greyhound company. They're best in twos. So sorry about your dog. I know how heartbreaking it is to lose one. thombleached
Horrible Histories t.v. series. This. We watch it when the kids have gone to bed. Rock and roll we are. Also, the new series they've done is quite good - Yonderland

thombleached
Good family series. Did you watch the first series? Only just started watching the first, I saw a billboard on the way home advertising it as Labyrinth meets Monty Python. Had me hooked First three episodes have been great. Oh and I found the latest horrible histories great aswel (season 6). Each episode has a different maniacal ******* (King John/William the conq/Napoleon etc) I think ones got Rowen Atkinson playing Henry the 8th I'm tempted to take the kids to the Warwick castle live show, as the one I saw in Birmingham was really good a year or so ago. happy_renting
One of the best bits of helping out with the local cub scouts, is chucking down a couple of jumpers and having an impromptu completely disorganised game of football, or joining in a game of tag while waiting for the meeting to begin. Most of the youths in my area are already tagged by the Home Office.
happy_renting
Not sure if it's 'kid's stuff', but I get a big kick out of hiding from the dog in the long grass that grows around the house.... Although that could be because we just collected a spaniel puppy a fortnight ago, and the shine hasn't worn off! In fact, just puppies in general. I'm insanely happy that, at the age of 56, I've just got my first dog I've considered getting a dog too for companionship. Then I noted various posts here about having a stroke. I'm about your age and I wonder if a dog would outlive me. Then I reassured myself the dog would probably survive on my corpse until the Postie noticed the smell and raised the alarm. I don't know about dogs, but I believe you have to be reasonable cruel to them, and then get another one.

LC1
Are to related to the now abscent Ken? I recall Ken from my early days of lurking on this site. I'm sure he contributed valuable stuff in many varied threads, but all anyone will remember of him is his fetish for post-apocalyptic cannibalism.
