‘Poverty Porn’: Bbc’S New Show Is Fascist Tv Where Poverty Is Seen As Entertainment

Recommended Posts

“Britain’s Hardest Grafter,” an upcoming BBC program, targets the poor and shows the depths to which the broadcaster has sunk, social realist filmmaker and activist Ken Loach has warned.

The show has been condemned as a cross between Channel 4 “poverty porn” outing Benefits Street and the dystopian action series The Hunger Games, in which the desperate are pitted against each other by a totalitarian regime.

Loach told the Morning Star: “It’s fascist TV where poverty is seen as entertainment.

He railed against the idea of “BBC programs targeting the poorest people.

It shows the depths to which our public sector has sunk,” he said.

Some 24,000 people have now signed a petition calling for the show to be dropped, and a newly elected Labour MP has also joined the debate.

Classic 'divide and conquer', distract the impoverished middle-class from their sad lifes by showing them how the poor live, so they can feel smug about being slightly better off, while not realising that the 1% are squeezing them more and more.

And this kind of crude propaganda is financed by all of us thanks to the TV tax.

If you haven't done so already, this seems like another very good reason to ditch TV and therefore stop paying TV tax which funds these overpaid propaganda producers.

I am in complete agreement! Isn't it a bit potty when MrPin agrees with you on something?

Maybe we could be neighbours, or even cellmates, now that Mr Renting has been moved to a more secure unit, where he is not allowed pencils or scissors. ;)

Stopped paying the licence fee the week after the GE. Sent the Beeb an email requesting I be taken off their list.

I read books and listen to the radio now....much better for one's health.
