The Latest Housing Market Prop?

Recommended Posts

Double the number of "free" (taxpayer funded) childcare hours enabling more mums to work, gear their salary up four to eight times and you can add at least £50K to the price of the average house. Socialism in action!

They would prefer people to work earning money and paying taxes and employ others to work and pay taxes caring for their children......in fact they would prefer people to pay extra for everything work hard and to do little themselves......

Child minder.

Care worker.

Chef.

Shopper.

DIYer

Gardener.

Decorator.

Car washer and mechanic.

Cleaner.

Cab driver.

the list goes on......work hard earning money to create employment for others, when you could save time and money by doing it yourself........the high price of housing is forcing people down this road....One child being looked after by another is one thing, two or more is something quite different......it wouldn't surprise me if soon if some will be paying others to have children for them, because they left it too late for the first let alone another. ;)

I guess most people have a choice:

1) Live in squlaor in a flat within a new chav estate and have kids.

2) Don't have kids or have them later and live a better area.

Neither are a good choice.

All the wrongs with this regime for the past many years have nothing to do with Socialism.

To start with, in Socialism, the losses are shared but also the profits are shared. Not to mention that banks and VI's did not have the licence to invent the money on the computer and then not to invest it into real economy but into their own assets which are houses.

IMO it's amateur to throw around the socialism word when what we have at the moment is anything but. We have neo liberal/crony capitalism propped up by various ponzi schemes.Losses are socialised and profits hoarded. The ideology of the establishment is the root of the problem, not some mythical socialist/marxist/leftist ideology.

Blaming immigrants, tax credits, feckless mothers etc just distracts the population from realising the establishment is still laughing at them while becoming ever richer.

Turn off the TV, put down the Daily Mail paper and do some independent thinking :P

Well, if you blame socialism you can carry on pretending that your "neo-liberal/crony capitalism" works and keep business as usual...

I'm no ideologue but wasn't crony capitalism what Hayek argued would be the natural outcome of socialist policies?

No, central planning policies. Socialism might mean different things to different people, but it's not necessarily statist (where statism can incorporate pretences of whatever -ism Government and non-governmental monopolistic buddies choose to pretend about).

Socialism is taking money, or assets, from those that have and re-distributing it to those that are in favour with a socialist government. Exactly what is happening here.

OK let us see what best describes what is going on, to quote wikipedia:

Socialism is a social and economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy, as well as a political theory and movement that aims at the establishment of such a system.

Nope, not that, perhaps this:

Capitalism is an economic system and a mode of production in which trade, industries, and the means of production are largely or entirely privately owned. Such private firms and proprietorships are usually operated for profit, but may be operated as private nonprofit organizations.

Nope, not that either, perhaps this:

In political and social sciences, communism (from Latin communis – common, universal) is a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production, absence of social classes, money, and the state.

Nope, not that either, perhaps this:

In political science, statism is the belief that the state should control either economic or social policy, or both, to some degree.

Close, but no cigar, perhaps this:

Bribery is the act of giving money, goods or other forms of recompense to a recipient in exchange for an alteration of their behavior (to the benefit/interest of the giver) that the recipient would otherwise not alter.

Yeah that's more like it, good old fashioned bribery. Telling people vote for us and we'll double the free child care you get.
