Wife Bonus

Intriguing. How does she stay at home looking after the daughter, appropriately named "Lala", while simultaneously out shopping and taking trips to Houston?

What a stupid thing to do. How long before someone with dirt on her or the husband sells it to the papers.

And trust me, if he is a successful oil trader he is getting a LOT more than 150k bonus. Methinks she is being nicely duped on how many crumbs she is getting....

its says he gives her 20% of his bonus.

He's not going to give her it all.

I could do with a husband bonus. My wife earns a not inconsiderable sum and she leaves me to manage on £1,250 a month that covers council tax(£110), water rates(£40) fuel for both cars(£450), Electricity/Oil £100, parking permits and incidentals such as her contact lenses which doesn't leave much left over for the weekly shop. Not so much what she gives to me but what she spends her money on that is poisonous. £thousands a month on sh** designer clothes (last week she showed me a coat she bought for £385(label made in China) that had the cut more akin to a dressing gown, looked and felt awful. Then there's the acres of house dedicated to cheap Chinese tat (toys) that my wife buys almost every other day (Amazon) and crap Disney holidays that we must go on that cost £3k+ or the villa in Portugal she's hired for a week in July to take her friends leaving me with the children (that bit never changes). She can feck off... Earns a six figure salary and hasn't saved a penny.

Edit: and now I have a part-time bar job she expects me to treat her lol

Edit 2: I'm also expected to pay for swimming, ballet and violin lessons.

What do you get that is good out of this relationship? From your above description you sound like cheap childcare/staff

I think I'd definitely draw the line at having to learn ballet.

:D good toes, naughty toes

Actually, I'm (passively) doing quite well on the old violin.

Sorry, rather rant here than to the missus... My trust in her has been broken as she was supposed to be saving £1,250 a month into her ISA (what she does and what she's saying she's doing are a world apart) when I found out by a chance look at her statement this week she conveniently omitted the 1 from the £1,250 so I'm feeling a mug seeing her blow upwards of £2,250 a month.. When it should be £1,250 a month on herself.

Naff all. I was rather hoping to show her a bit of equality and take half her worth when the kids start secondary school in 5-7 years. At this rate it'll be half of nothing lol

I'm not even cheap, I'm free.

Sorry to hear that - it doesn't sound like a great way to spend your life

Ebay her shoes etc - i get the impression she just likes to spend and probably doesn't even know what she has/never wears the stuff

Time to have a chat about how much your family's lifestyle actually costs with her. I'm guess that the sum hasn't increased as the kids have got bigger/inflation/she's increased her lifestyle expectations in line with her salary etc. Quite a common situation I understand. I saw a programme featuring one older couple. He was living it up, while she was struggling. The reasons soon became clear, his salary had increased and he no longer had to pay the mortgage (his share of the bills), while hers had gone nowhere while still being responsible for all of the other ever increasing bills.

Failing that eBay any stuff you don't think she'd notice has gone missing. Oh, and definitely treat the wife occasionally - even if just to a pack of fish and chips or whatever you used to do before you got married. It'll help keep the romance alive.

I'm a pretty loyal small 'c' conservative but when I see stories like in the OP I can't help but have some sympathy for socialists.

If the rich behaved with any humility the left wouldn't exist. Instead they're mostly arrogant, vain, entitled and condescending. ****** them!

Why not go onto Mumsnet and post that but reverse the gender, so you're the house wife and your wife is "the husband". Then you will see how women react to it, and can perhaps show your wife their feedback. I am sure it will be fairly unanimous.

As an aside, we've been married for 16 years, and my wife has put the princely sum of £300 into our bills account every month since we married, without ever once feeling the need to increase it, despite her annual cost of living wage rises. That bills account has to take care of all the grocery shopping, all utilities except the phone, and her life insurance, which alone is about £150.

Oddly enough, I have to "top it up" every month. By a factor of about threefold.

I'm kind of working towards her giving up work altogether so it's not the end of the world for me, but it still pisses me off that she never offers to increase it, when she's more than happy to sit and complain about inflation for an hour or two.

I am, however, very much looking forward to firing the cleaner, and introducing my wife to the vacuum cleaner and the ironing board.

Edit - I forgot the rent - make that 5-6 fold.

Fixed for you

If there is one thing I have learned about women is that they absolutely despise being called out on their bad behaviour.

Crikey, given your figures, I genuinely think divorce might be a cheaper alternative

Lol, nope, first of all I'm rather attached to the old girl, and in fairness I do earn a lot more than she does. It's just the principle really.

Oh absolutely, hence reversing the genders for an MN post. But yes, I'm sure it would be a christ almighty barney when the poster's wife was confronted with the responses.

I should point out that I am not a professional relationship counsellor :P

Well, I just pay half my rent and ct and buy most of my own food.

She pays 80% of the gas and electricity (she has a heater on during the summer etc.)

The fact is that being super tight I can live without working whereas she cant !

And who is this Amazon who sends her presents on an almost daily basis....?

and how the cash payment makes her more, not less, of a feminist than ever

Of course it all comes down to feminism

The same as "...and lived in a house worth £xxxxxxx" in Daily Mail pieces.

No, what I mean is he is SAYING he gives her 20% of 150k. I bet he gets a LOT more than that and just gives her a crumb,,,
