Alistair Carmichael Guilty Of French Gate Smear

Recommended Posts

Well well well. Who ever saw that coming! If the electorate knew about this before the election it would have been 57 seats out of 59 for the SNP and the Lib Dems would have zero in Scotland. Carmichael states if he was still a minister then he would have resigned. Sounds like weasel words from a man with no intention of doing the honourable thing.

And yet the telegraph who published the lies continues to disgracefully spread the untrue smear with their article titled:

"Nicola Sturgeon memo 'recorded accurately', official inquiry finds"

If I were Nicola Sturgeon I would be looking at taking legal action against that rag.

They don't even get the record of the meeting checked before publishing such a controversial claim just before the election. The hint of uncertainty was in the "might be lost in translation" bit.

In any event "lost in translation" or not (doesn't the French ambassador to the UK speak English? - not everyone does of course even if based in London :unsure: ) was there nobody else at the anonymous civil servant's meeting with the French ambassador to check against what the French ambassador said. Not even any secretaries or suchlike.

It's pretty amazing stuff and if that's the sort of stuff going on it's no surprise that so many voted SNP.

You need only watch this video to see what is so wrong with unionist politics.

This whole situation can only play into the SNP's hands. If the legal case is successful and Carmichael is kicked out then it would seem likely that the SNP would win his seat (Carmichael only has a majority of around 800) making their total 57 / 59 Scottish seats. If the legal case fails then come next years Scottish elections there is bound to be more support for the SNP at least in the Islands if not in the rest of Scotland (this is still probably true even if Carmichael is kicked out).

Scotland has had enough of this bullsh*t and is doing something about it!

They all lie doesn't seem to be a very strong defence even by the mainstream media's standards. Especially when the electorate are continually told by all the parties before elections that this time it's different and if you vote for "us" you'll get a straightforward and honest sort of representation - and after elections the electorate getting repeatedly ripped off because the winner lied.

Allister Carmichael will be receiving summons tomorrow. He will have to attend court to defend himself. If he had any respect he would do the decent thing and resign now so that the £50,000 that has been raised via the crowd funder can go to food banks instead of lawyers. Disgrace of a man.

He is being investigated by the commons standards committee. Maybe a good case for MP recall?

I believe his 'offence' lies outside the time-scale of the new legislation, unfortunately.

Although found not guilty by the court, they have told Alister Carmichael that he will have to pay all of his own costs. All £150,000 worth! He was trying to get the Orkney 4, his own constituents, to pay his costs.

As we are so found of saying up here;

Get it right f**king up ye!
